The Pearl of the Black Sea.
 By order of Catherine the Great, construction of the city began in 1794 and grew rapidly to become a major port. This beautiful city is a mecca of parks, esplanades and imposing monuments. A temperate climate and glorious beaches have nurtured its reputation as a favored resort destination for Europeans. The cosmopolitan architecture of the city reflects its proud heritage and adds an artistic air to its temperate climate.
 You enjoy a pleasant stroll along Primorsky Boulevard, the city's most popular Promenade.
Many of Odessa's finest buildings and monuments line the boulevard. Among the pretty structures is the Palace of Count Vorontsov. There is the famous Opera and Ballet Theatre, designed by Viennese architects Felner and Gelmer and completed in 1887 in classic baroque lines.
 Odessa's main commercial street is Deribasovskaya, where you will discover the City Garden with a local artisan's market. The Arkadia is the most popular beach area with plenty of restaurants and activities. On your way back you pass through the French Boulevard, the health resorts, the Odessa's Film studio and Musical Comedy Theater.
